In the 1970s, Museum founder R. Lee Taylor read a newspaper article about a miniature of Shadows-on-the-Teche, a historic house in New Iberia, Louisiana. Taylor realized he could create a better version. The result is the small-scale Shadows-on-the-Teche in the R. Lee Taylor Miniatures Gallery at the MSV. Like many antebellum mansions in the Deep South, the real Shadows-on-the-Teche startles visitors who tell stories of mysterious footsteps, strange noises, and disembodied voices in the night. Lee Taylor included a ghostly guest in the MSV’s version. You can see her through the attic dormer window. Make sure to come visit her this Halloween!
