Stop by—or ride a bike to—the MSV for fun, FREE National Trails Day activities for all ages. Plant a tree on the Trails, enjoy a free yoga class, ride the trails with WPD Bicycle Patrol, try a bike obstacle course, and hike or bike the trails with the kids and enjoy fun family activities along the way. Food will be available for purchase from the Melted Dreams food truck (see the menu).
Celebration highlights:
Yoga: at the Stone Circle led by Jaime Haines
- 9 a.m. session for ages 18+ (bring a mat)
- 10 a.m.: session geared towards families/kids (bring a mat)
- Aerial Rig set up for the remainder of the time for all ages to try
Hiking and family activities along the Trails 9 a.m.–noon (see the Trails map):
- Near the floating Wetlands Boardwalk: flower rubbing plates & wetlands scavenger hunt
- Bark and leaf identification near the Oak Hickory Allée
- Trail behind the galleries building: build your own artistic plant holder near the tree house
Winchester City Police 9 a.m.–noon (staff parking lot beside the galleries building near the Makerspace Studio)
- Bicycle obstacle course setup (in the parking lot)
- Trails bike rides with police officers
- Meet McGruff the crime dog
- Fingerprinting
Winchester Parks and Recreation 9 a.m.–noon (patio)
- Kids Activity
BikeWalk Winchester 9 a.m.–noon (patio)
- Facilitating a free Bicycle Valet (ride to the MSV and check your bicycle while you hike and enjoy the gardens and main galleries)
Plant a Tree on the Trails
- 9–10 a.m.: Plant a tree in the park with MSV garden staff. Fun for families, this opportunity is being offered on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
Food Truck: Melted Dreams, on site all day (see the menu). Bring a blanket and picnic!
Trails Day activities are free to all. Admission fees apply to tour the galleries building & the gardens.
