December 12 • 10 a.m.–noon or 2–4 p.m.
Enjoy tea, savory delights, desserts, and a special curator’s look at one of the country’s most impressive collections of early American fashion. This illustrated program by Neal Hurst, associate curator of costume and textiles at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, examines the enormous variety of shoes—from the sumptuous to the practical—available to Americans in the 1700s and 1800s. Before or after the tea, visit the Founders Gallery to see American and English portraits with subjects whose costumes complete the look.
MSV members: $45; all others: $55; adults (includes admission). Register by December 11. Register online or call 540-662-1473, ext. 240.
